Great article this week on @Dezeen about a concrete approach to delivering low cost housing. It tells the story of how Portuguese architect José Carlos Nunes de Oliveira designed a cuboidal concrete property which provides 160 square metres of accommodation for just €100,000 (£84,000).
It’s a really innovative approach and delivers a very stylish minimalistic look (if that’s your kind of thing!). All too often concrete has negative connotations so full marks for taking such a brave approach to creating much needed housing. Perhaps it could work over here in the UK if we could erase any lingering bad memories from a lot of 1960s and 70s housing design.
